Biographical Notes:
By all accounts, West had a stereotypical small-town upbringing. He belongs to a close knit family and is engaged to his high school sweetheart, Kylen Celina. Most of his adult life has been spent training for Aerotech as a colonist. Those plans were brought to an abrupt halt when several colonists were replaced by InVitros just hours before launch. After failing to stow-away on the colony ship, Nathan joined the Marines in hopes of rejoining Kylen.
The loss of Kylen on Tellus was the driving force in West's fight against the Chigs. He refused to give up hope for her safe return. The lowest point in Nathan's life came with the death of Neil, his brother. Neil's loss seemed to cement West's friendship with Cooper, despite the pair's initial hostility.
As a Marine, West has proven himself to be an excellent pilot. His impulsiveness and instincts have been tempered under McQueen's guidance.
